What are keywords?

Keywords are natural, native language terms that reflect your company's unique brand or identity. Keywords are your tool to help drive qualified traffic to your website, to simplify navigation to your website, and increase the visibility and sales potential of your online presence. Your Keyword is your marquee on the Web.

Keywords are not meta tags or Domain Names. Keywords are not generic terms, which include "common terms" found in the dictionary, or those which are synonymous with an entire category of goods, products or services. Keywords are not included in all search engines/web crawlers, nor are they a replacement for a Domain Name. Keywords are an additional layer on top of the Domain Naming System protocol that hide the complex technology of the Internet and simplify navigation to your website through natural and native language terms.

Keywords examples: Big Jim's Bait Shop - Smallville's Souvenirs - DownTown Pet Grooming...

Please be sure to also read our Keywords Registration Agreement and Policies pages.

Which kinds of Keywords are these?
These are Real Names Keywords, not AOL keywords. Real Names have 2 types of Keywords:

Basic Keywords are ideal for businesses and individuals wanting to drive traffic to their online presence.

There are also Keywords Plus which Oriweb does not yet offer. These are targeted at Brand protection and will be offered soon. They will come at a premium price.

What are basic keywords?
Basic Keywords are lower traffic names that are ideal for small businesses and individuals who want to tailor line identities to local markets. When typed into the Internet Explorer browser, Basic Keywords redirects users to the appropriate site and have the added support of easily accessible, related information (and other search engines) delivered via a Keyword Window at the top of the page. Basic registrants may also submit their company information to the UDDI registry during the online, registration process.

How do I register a Basic keyword?

  1. Simply Email us here with a list of 1 - 5 keywords that you are interested in.

  2. We will check their availability and then send you a PayPal invoice.
  3. Once payment is received, we will register the keyword for you and send you a confirmation Email.

How much is a Basic keyword?
A basic keyword is just $49, discounts can be provided if you register more than one keyword.  Keywords are an incredible bargain when you think of the targeted traffic that they deliver.

Where do these Keywords work?
Keywords take you where you want to go on the Web - easily and instantly. They are built into Microsoft's Browser: Internet Explorer and the popular search engines listed below. Thanks to Real Name's international partners, you will soon be able to use Keywords to navigate directly to a site destination from almost anywhere on the Web.

MSN (Keywords Plus Only)

How long after registration will my keyword(s) be "live"?
Keyword registrations are entered into the database immediately, and are updated and available for use within the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser command line and other Keyword-enabled environments across the RealNames distribution network. Keywords are usually live across the entire network within 2 to 10 business days.

Why Register a Keyword in more than one country?
Keywords are active only in those countries that you choose during the registration process. Keywords are not registered in all countries by default. RealNames Keywords technology is active in many countries internationally.

What languages and character sets are supported?
Keywords work in all languages and character sets.

May a registrant change the country associated with a Keyword?
Keyword registrations are distinct by Keyword and country, and therefore, once a Keyword is registered, it is not possible to change the associated country namespace. Both the Keyword name and country are set at the time of registration and continue for the life of the registration, including renewals. If a Registrant chooses to add or change country namespaces for a particular Keyword, he/she will need to re-register a new Keyword.
